Guest Pastor Jonathan Nicolai-deKoning, from the Micah Centre at Kings University in Edmonton, will be leading our evening teaching service, speaking to us on the theological and Biblical foundations for justice.
This service is the second in an ongoing series about community, and what it means to be church and Christians in our world.
Justice and Charity: What’s the Difference, and Why it Matters
Building on Roy’s workshop several weeks ago, we will explore the difference between ‘justice’ and ‘charity’.
How we go about making our communities more just, more humane, and more life-giving is deeply shaped by our assumptions about important words like ‘justice’, ‘charity’, ‘love’, and ‘poverty’. We’ll explore those differences, and ask what difference it could make in our personal lives, in our churches’ ministries, and in the work of community development.
