Sometimes when we really want to help our neighbours in need and even when we have the best intentions, we end up hurting our neighbours rather than helping them. This called toxic charity. Our desire to help and good intentions must be paired with wisdom and careful consideration of the people we want to serve. This takes more work, is messier, but also, by God’s grace, is transformational for everyone involved.
